I'm participating in the 2022 Big Book Summer Challenge!

I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm nevertheless excited to be participating in the Big Book Summer Challenge for the second year in a row! This challenge, hosted by wonderful fellow blogger Sue Jackson at Book by Book, is the perfect chance to cram in the 400+ page books I haven't previously had time to get to. Before I dive into the books I'm planning to read, I'll note that you can learn more about the challenge and consider participating here—I highly recommend you check it out!

This year, I'm hoping to read 3 out of 4 of the books on the graphic below—let's see where I get!

  • Yolk by Mary H.K. Choi
    • 400 pages (according to Amazon)
    • Add it on Goodreads
    • I've been waiting to read this YA novel for months, and I'm already a smidge of the way through—the buzz seems to be warranted!
  • Amber & Clay by Laura Amy Schlitz
  • Dragon Hoops by Gene Luen Yang
  • Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
    • 448 pages (according to Amazon)
    • Add it on Goodreads
    • One of my good friends loves this YA historical fiction novel, and since I hear nothing but immense praise for Ruta Sepetys's books, I figure now is the time to get this one read!
That's what I've got for the challenge! If you arrive at this post throughout the summer and want to see which books I have read and reviewed, click here. I'm excited to hopefully knock some big books off my TBR list!

  1. Welcome back to another Big Book Summer, Max! I'm so glad you are participating again! And, wow, you have some outstanding books chosen! I haven't read them all, but I can personally vouch for Dragon Hoops (and I have NO interest in basketball! It's amazing anyway) and Salt to the Sea. Ruta Sepetys is a stunningly talented author, and this novel will blow you away (same with her first novel, Between Shades of Gray).

Looks like some great summer reading - enjoy!
And remember, you can come back to the challenge page to share your reviews, if you want - they go in the second list.

  6. Love the idea of this challenge! Laura Amy Schlitz is one of my favourite writers, so I'll definitely be picking up Amber and Clay. Dragon Hoops has been on my list for awhile, too. I'l be taking a break from book blogging in August, so I'll need plenty of reads to keep me busy. Thanks for your suggestions!

    1. It's great to hear that you're a fan of Laura Amy Schlitz—I believe this is the first I'll have ever read by her, but I know she is a Newbery winner, so I can imagine she is quite talented. And I hope you enjoy your blogging break in August—it can be nice to cram in some reading without the pressure of reviewing it all! Thanks so much for stopping by, Linda!
